The Swing

Hi! This is Amy. I'm 10 years old and one of my favorite poems is by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was also one of my grandmother's and my mother's favorite poems. It's called THE SWING and I have copied it here. Enjoy!

How do you like to go up in a swing, up in the air so blue? Oh, I do think it the pleaseantest thing ever a child kood do! Up in the air and over the wall, till I can se so wide, rivers and trees and all over the countryside- till Ilook down on the garden green, down on the roof so brown up in the air I go flying again, up in the air and down!

Summer Celebration

We are on day two of Summer Celebration at CLC. This is Amy's last year (she's 10) and Evan's second year as helper. Evan is on the green team (Philippians) and Amy is on the Ephesians. They love Summer Celebration and I'm SO grateful to all the older kids who come back, year after year, to serve and make it possible for the younger ones. It's an amazing evidence of God's grace to see how much they love to serve at this Bible camp! Praise God!

Another school year completed!

7th grade is finished! Evan celebrated by having one of his friends, Elliot Lowe over for the afternoon. Here is Elliot, being his normal geeky self!
Evan is taller now ... but how will it end up?

Evan is blessed to have a great bunch of friends in his class at CLS. Here he is with Josh Merryman, Elliot Lowe, Mitchell Cooney and David Keeler.

Ashley's Leaving

This picture was taken today. Ash is getting ready to go away for 2 months to Guatemala. We will miss her, but we know God will bless her efforts as she serves in an orphange there. We pray that God will richly bless you, Ash, and draw you closer to knowing Him in a way that will benefit you the rest of your life. We love you!

Here is the fam a year ago in 2009. Hope to do this every year!

Decade Daughter

Amy is 10! What a sweet girl she is! She loves:
  1. babies (she often serves as a mother's helper)
  2. swimming
  3. running with Dad or kicking a soccer ball around
  4. swinging on our tree swing
  5. reading Magic TreeHouse books
  6. neatly arranging all her stuffed animals on her bed
  7. baking (or anything using her hands!)

Here is the teapot birthday cupcake she made, complete with taffy handle and spout and plenty of sprinkles!

Yummy!

Even though she doesn't turn 10 until June 11th, Amy wanted to celbrate early before Ash leaves for Guatemala on June 5th. Here they are with the present Ash picked out for her. Sweet girlies!

Nick and Ashley are at the NEXT conference in Baltimore. They have only been gone one night, but already I miss them. How will I ever last while Ashley is in Guatemala? Lord, please help me to see that, even though I can't go myself, saying goodbye to my daughter for two months is one way that I can serve these orphans.
For the past week, we have had Oliver and Valentina Lanz with us from Switzerland. It has been fun to get to know them! We hope to visit them one day ...

Evan and Oliver. "Of course!"

At the pool on Memorial Day.

Reading with Dad at night.

Cool shades!

Sweet Valentina

Time to Start Blogging Again

Well, it's been over a year since my last post! Guess you could say I'm not the most consistent blogger! But, I'm slowly learning the benefits of blogging and that it's a great place just to write your thoughts, even if you don't have pictures! So I hope to blog more frequently in the future.

Just writing that word - "hope" - reminds me of the excellent series the senior pastor at our church is leading us through right now - A Living Hope. This is a sermon series on 1 Peter, and already I know some many who are benefiting from this teaching, not least of all myself! Check out this link www.covlife.org to listen to sermons online. Thanks, Josh, and all the CLC pastors. Grateful for you all!
